Foot & Arch Pain
Flat Feet Treatment in Clifton, NJ
Fallen arches rarely stay a foot problem. We support the arch and the whole chain above it.
Flat feet are not always painful, but a fallen arch changes how force travels through the foot, ankle, knee, hip, and low back, and that adds up over a long day.
Your arch is a spring. It absorbs load with every step and hands the force off smoothly up the leg. When the arch collapses, that spring flattens out. Some people feel it right in the foot as fatigue and aching. Others never feel the foot at all and instead notice the knee, hip, or low back complaining, because the strain has to go somewhere.
The fix is not just a cushioned insole. It is supporting the arch correctly and settling the joints above it so they stop compensating. Well-fitted custom orthotics are usually the anchor of that plan, matched to your actual gait rather than a shelf size.
Does This Sound Familiar?
The signs we hear about most.
Arches Look Collapsed
Little to no gap under the arch when you stand, with the foot rolling flat to the floor.
Feet Tire Quickly
Aching, heavy feet after standing or walking, sooner than they should.
Ankles Roll Inward
The ankles cave in and shoes wear down unevenly along the inside edge.
Knee, Hip, or Back Ache
Strain that shows up higher in the chain, even when the foot itself feels fine.
Our Approach
Support the arch, unload the chain.
Because Dr. Lee is both a podiatrist and a chiropractor, flat feet are treated from both directions at once: the arch itself, and everything it throws off balance above it.
- Computerized gait scan to see exactly how your arch loads and where the force goes
- Custom Footmaxx orthotics built to support the arch and correct your gait
- Soft-tissue and strengthening to free tight structures and rebuild the muscles that hold the arch
- Whole-chain alignment so the knees, hips, and spine stop paying for the arch
Good Questions
Flat feet, answered.
Are flat feet a problem if they do not hurt?
Not always. Plenty of people have flat feet and never feel a thing. The time to look closer is when the feet tire quickly, ache after standing, or the strain starts showing up in the ankles, knees, or back.
Can flat feet cause back pain?
They can. When the arch collapses, the ankle rolls inward and that rotation travels up through the knee and hip to the low back. For some people the back ache is the first sign the arch is the real culprit.
Do orthotics fix flat feet?
Custom orthotics support the arch and correct how your foot loads, which relieves the fatigue and the strain up the chain. They manage the mechanics well, and paired with soft-tissue work and strengthening they let you stand and move comfortably.
Can adults do anything about flat feet?
Yes. Because Dr. Lee is both a chiropractor and a board-certified podiatrist, adults get a plan that supports the arch, strengthens the foot, and aligns the joints above it so the knees, hips, and spine stop paying for the fallen arch.
